Established in 1983, Medival inherited the Orazio Valeggia family run business in the healthcare field, becoming nowadays a modern commercial company, leader in the Italian market.

History
1831
It all began in 1831 when Orazio Valeggia founded the «Orazio Valeggia» Company in Dolo, a small town near Venice.The company focused on implants production even when its headquarters moved to Padova (1854).Orazio Valeggia worked actively for many years in the healthcare field and established a strong partnership and clinical research programme with the Padua Hospital. Padua was and still is the seat of one of the most prestigious University Medicine and Surgery Faculties in Italy. As the Faculty became more and more important in the healthcare world, the “Valeggia” Company evolved as well: from the first prosthesis to a gradually diversified production strategy over the years. The products introduced in the market were the synthesis of the strong relationship with the Paduan Faculty and the constant scientific progress research.
1900s
Officially the first price catalogue publication dates back to 1910 when Orazio Valeggia transferred the Company to his son, becoming «Nebridio Valeggia fu Orazio» Company.In the historical archives Nebridio’s name is associated with many surgical instruments: the “Prof. De Giovanni abdominal binder”, the “Prof. Merletti Embriotomo” (an obstetrics surgery instrument) and the Toracentesio Cavezzali (a pneumology pump).The abdominal binder was already named in the Italian Official Journal in 1913, the Toracentesio was deposited in 1924 at the Florence Prefecture and the Embriotomo in 1926. Nebridio Valeggia attended the National Congress of Medicine held in Lisbon from 19 to 26 April 1906. In the interwar period a partnership with a German company begins: thanks to this liaison the Company broadens its range of products and its geographical areas.
1970
In the 70s, with a focus on innovation and research, the guidelines that have been accompanying us over the years, the company signs a few partnerships with international providers for the distribution in Italy of anaesthesia and suture devices. At that time the distribution was at a regional level and the company became the main distributor in the Tre Venezie Area which comprises 3 regions: Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige.
1983
Vision AzienThis is the turning point that will lead to the new ERA. Orazio Valeggia’s heirs, willing to continue the family run business, created a new, modern, dynamic company “MEDICA VALEGGIA S.p.a “(Medival). While remaining faithful to its origins, the critical care areas become soon the Company’s core business. In this period the product portfolio was extended including devices for anaesthesia, resuscitation, oxygen therapy, endotracheal tubes, fixation devices, oral care prevention and protection devices, dialysis solutions. Since then, MEDIVAL has become a nationwide distribution Company and its name has stood for highly professional and reliable service.dale
2000s
In 2008 we started exploring another important field, the medical equipment as a valuable complement to our product portfolio. Now it includes systems for therapeutic hypothermia, haemostasis, awareness, nociception, neuromuscular transmission, diabetes and gynaecological oncology. In 2015 we also entered the surgical specialties market: General-Abdominal surgery, ENT surgery, Urology and Gynaecological surgery.
